As many as 33 PKK terrorists were killed in an air operation in the Gara region of Northern Iraq, Turkish military says
Turkish warplanes were discovered to have killed 33 Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists during the air operation in the Gara region of Northern Iraq.
The operation was conducted between 12:30 and 1:55 p.m. on August 29 in the Qandil Mountian region of Northern Iraq is the PKK's main base, the Turkish military stated.
4 killed in Hakkari anti-terror operations
Meanwhile, as many as four PKK terrorists were killed in the ongoing operation in Çukurca town in the southeastern Turkish province of Hakkari.
As many as 28 hand grenades, 52 anti-aircraft ammunition Docks, 350 bixi machine gun cartridges, 490 Kalashnikov rifle cartridges and various material were seized in the operation.
Anti-terrorist raids continuing in neighboring southeastern provinces uncovered many other weapons which were confiscated.
In the town of Silopi in Şırnak, three Dragunov sniper rifles, two pistols, 138 cartridges of a thermal camera, night vision binoculars, a telescope and binoculars were found. Also a terrorist was killed in the operation in Silopi.
In Hatay, a Kalashnikov rifle, 120 cartridges, two hand grenades and a hand-held radio were seized.
In the Şemdinli town of Hakkari province, handmade explosives of 450 kg of ammonium nitrate and a large tube were destroyed.
Turkey has been intensively fighting against PKK terrorists both through land and air operations in southeastern Turkey and Northern Iraq since July 2015. Since that date, about 7,000 PKK terrorists were killed.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S, and the EU.
