The construction of a mosque complex in southwestern Serbia is underway as authorities say the minarets of the mosque will be the tallest in Europe when it's finished
A mosque in Serbia's southwest is expected to be opened for prayer in late 2017 as the minarets of the mosque will be the tallest in Europe when the construction is completed, said Muamer Zukorliç, the grand Mufti of Serbia.
The construction of the mosque on a 600-square-meter area is going on with full speed in Sandžak, a rural mountainous region in southwestern Serbia, the Mufti said.

Sandžak is an area that is home to a large Bosnian Muslim minority in Serbia, and its residents who now live abroad have collected the funds from all around the world to build the mosque.
Bosnian Muslim expats have raised funding worldwide to build the domineering mosque with fifteen domes.
This will be the tallest mosque with six minarets, four with a height of 45 meters and two of 99 meters, Zukorliç said. The mosque also will have 15 domes, each with a diameter of 12 meters.
Mufti Muamer Zukorliç stated that the construction of the mosque complex will be completed in 2017.
The complex will include a kindergarten, a school for Quran studies, an information center, a center for languages, and a restaurant with 500 seats, he added.
