Qatar's Ankara ambassador Al-Shafi said the country seeks opportunities to invest in Turkey, adding that the Emir of Qatar would meet President Erdoğan to sign 14 trade agreements on Dec. 18 in Trabzon
Ambassador Salim Mübarek Al-Shafi pointed out that Turkey-Qatar relations had gained momentum over the past years, adding that the political and economic ties between the countries were steadily developing.
Shafi said that various investment opportunities in Turkey were evaluated, emphasizing that a delegation from the Ministry of Economy of Qatar is discussing possible investments.
“Qatar is evaluating every opportunity to invest in Turkey. Emir of Qatar Sheikh Temim Bin Hamad al Sani and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will soon meet in Trabzon. We will sign 14 agreements with Turkey in various fields, particularly in energy, economy and tourism in Trabzon on December 18. These agreements will further strengthen our relations,” said Shafi, noting Qatar's purchase of Turkey's Finansbank and Digiturk.
It is expected that Emir of Qatar Sheikh Sani will attend the opening of Trabzonspor's new stadium Akyazı Arena.
Shafi also reported that commercial negotiations were continuing on the sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Fourteen per cent of the world's natural gas reserves are in Qatar.
During his visit to Qatar, President Erdoğan signed an agreement with BOTAŞ and Qatar's national oil company, enabling the regular and long-term import of LNG.
Turkey exports iron, steel, electrical machinery and devices, motor vehicles and parts, home textile products, furniture and food to Qatar. Qatar exports LNG, plastics and chemical products to Turkey.
