Iran's moves, to disrupt the ceasefire in Aleppo, Syria, crucial for evacuating civilians and stopping bloodshed, are part of bigger plan to trigger sectarian-based conflict, as Tehran has been supporting the regime all along by deploying troops in Syria

Iran has been attempting to sabotage the possible ceasefire, which aims to limit the bloodshed that the northern Syrian province of Aleppo has been witnessing by introducing new conditions to the ceasefire and evacuation deal negotiated by Russia and Turkey.

One of the opposition members and the U.N. official said Iran, which backs some powerful militias fighting in Aleppo on the Bashar al-Assad regime side, wanted a simultaneous evacuation of the wounded from the villages of Foua and Kefraya that are besieged by the opposition.

Iran's moves are part of the bigger plan, as it has been supporting the regime since the beginning of the war by deploying troops in Syria, to trigger sectarian-based conflict.

Iran also tortured civilians as militia from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and many other countries were deployed to oppress the civilians.

Iran's large military presence in Syria

Iran's Military presence in Syria can be listed as following:

• Iranian Revolutionary Guards: 8,000 -10,000

• Iranian Army: 5,000 - 6.000

• Iraqi Shia militias: around 20,000

• Afghan Shia militias: 15,000-20,000

• Hezbollah : 7,000 – 10,000

• Pakistani Zeynebiyyun Brigades: 5,000 to 7,000

So far, around 1,200 Hezbollah fighters have been killed in the Syrian conflict. These include prominent fighters Samir Qantar and Jihad Moughniyah, the son of Imad Moughniyah, who were killed in separate Israeli attacks last year. Also, the killed Iranians include 20 commanders.

Iran cooperating with the US

The improving relations between the U.S. and Iran is one the biggest signs that the two parties see a common benefit in Syria, as the embargo, which has been applied for around 40 years, ended at the beginning of 2016.

The U.S. - supported Shi'ite militia has been conducting massacres similar to the ones in Iraq during war time, as a part of the improving relations of Washington and Tehran based on mutual benefit in war-torn Syria.

International efforts to evacuate civilians

On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have spoken three times over the phone on the northern Syrian province of Aleppo, which has been under intense attacks from the Russia and Iran-backed Bashar al-Assad regime.

The talks aim to make a significant decision, which may initiate the formation of a corridor to evacuate the moderate opposition and civilians.

Erdoğan and Putin's conversations were parts of Germany, Qatar, the United States and the European Union's talks to evacuate thousands stranded in barren Aleppo. Most civilians have already run out of food and decent shelter and are reportedly living on the streets.

On late Monday, the Assad regime seized East Aleppo substantially. Regime forces massacred civilians, including women and children, while they burned a large number of people alive.

Backing Assad since beginning of war

Along with Russia, Iran is the biggest supporter of the Bashar al-Assad regime of Syria, as the Iran and Russia-backed regime has been launching attacks particularly in opposition-held areas.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed since the beginning of the five-year-long civil war in Syria.

The United Nations says more than 250,000 people have been killed since the beginning of the violence that turned into a civil war; however, the Syrian Center for Policy Research, an NGO, has put the death toll from conflict at more than 470,000.
