Pakistanis prepare for Eid al-Adha celebrations

Most majority-Muslim countries around the world will observe Eid al-Adha, the four-day Muslim religious festival, starting on Saturday, July 9. In Pakistan, crowds of buyers, and chants from sellers were the usual scenes at a sprawling makeshift cattle market in Peshawar, the capital of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The holiday commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim, or Abraham, to sacrifice his son at God's command before the last-minute divine substitute of a ram.
