Maldives reaffirms commitment to Palestinian cause

As the world observes the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu reiterated the country's strong support for Palestine's struggle for justice and peace.

"For every Maldivian, Palestine's struggle is our own," Muizzu stated, underscoring the deep connection felt by the Maldivian people toward Palestine.

He called on the international community to unite and use its political and economic power to demand an end to Israel's occupation and hold those responsible for war crimes accountable.

"We firmly believe that a lasting solution can only be possible through the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital," he wrote on X.

Israel has launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip following a Hamas attack in October last year, killing nearly 44,300 people, most of them women and children, and injuring over 104,700.

The second year of genocide in Gaza has drawn growing international condemnation, with officials and institutions labeling the attacks and blocking of aid deliveries as a deliberate attempt to destroy a population.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
