President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) President Masoud Barzani to discuss bilateral relations, recent regional developments and cooperation against terror

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with the president of Iraq's Kurdish region, Massoud Barzani, in Ankara on Wednesday to discuss the fight against terrorism.

The two leaders stressed the significance of cooperation to ensure stability in the region, presidential sources said.

Erdogan reiterated Turkey's determination to combat terrorism, including Daesh and the PKK.

They discussed relations between Turkey and the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government, as well as regional issues.

Barzani's visit came amid a diplomatic row with Baghdad over Turkish troops based near Mosul in northern Iraq, where they are training Kurdish peshmerga fighters.

On Tuesday, Barzani said the Turkish forces had come to Iraq to provide military training for soldiers who will participate in the operation to retake Mosul from Daesh.
