Natalia Nemets was killed on Oct. 20 when caramel gushed into a tank she was cleaning at the Slavyanka confectionary factory in Russia’s southwestern Belgorod region, according to Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda.
Workers said only her legs were visible when the molten liquid poured into the tank and that they could not save her.
“She did not cry, [and] no other noise was heard,” one witness said.
“She was cleaning the mixer when the caramel suddenly began to flow into the bowl. She got boiled alive, this is true,” the witness added. Nemets had a 10-year-old son, Ivan.
The Slavyanka confectionary factory allegedly attempted to cover up the atrocity, and locals claim that three deaths have occurred this year alone.
Workers at the factory were threatened to be discharged if they revealed the incident or any details.
